Apparently… parents and former students are suing Palo Alto Unified School District over a 2025 field trip to a mosque in Santa Clara. The lawsuit alleges that students from Palo Alto High School were given Qurans, some girls were encouraged to wear hijabs, students observed Islamic prayer, and photos were taken and shared without proper parental permission.

The families argue that the trip went beyond simply teaching students about religion and crossed into participation in religious activity. The district says religion is supposed to be taught academically and without promoting or criticizing any faith, and officials are reviewing the allegations.
