So now we know, even if BHO won’t admit it, that there were shouts of “Allahu Akbar,” the terrorist calling card when the attacks took place at the concert hall where an American rock band was performing. Another attack occurred at a stadium where French and German teams were playing soccer and at least six “touristy” locations. Therefore the Islamists weren’t merely out for Parisian blood but they wanted to make a global statement. There were attacks in Beirut as well. There was quite likely an attack planned for Germany which was thwarted because apprehended a suspect with a carload of AKs and TNT.
For those who would like to say “The terrorist have won because we are all talking about it,” know this, if we followed your path of burying our heads in the sand and trying to pretend nothing happened, then the terrorist have an even bigger win. Whenever you bury your head in the sand, you actually make yourself an even larger, more tempting, target for the devil.
Although the American president had only a few hours earlier tried to claim that ISIS was “on the ropes,” they were quickly releasing a tape claiming responsibility for the coordinated attack. The sketchy details may mean their media team was not as fully informed beforehand as they usually are or that Al Qaeda may have had the stronger hand in this attack. However evidence is surfacing showing this has the M.O. of ISIS rather than Al Qaeda. One of the suspects arrested boldly proclaimed “I am ISIS.” Nevertheless the American president took to the airwaves to caution against assuming that this was anything more than a few isolated, unrelated incidents which had nothing to do with Islam.. Even now he is probably frantically searching for a video he can blame it all on. Hopefully, however, even the most blinded-to-reality followers of his will pull their collective heads out of the sand and face the truth and maybe even stand for something bigger than their own self-centered interests.
The bombing in Beirut claimed the lives of at least 43 people and could have claimed the lives of a lot more if not for the heroic action of a man whose name I have misplaced (hopefully someone will supply his name in the comments section). Meanwhile in Mizzou, site of the hoax college campus demonstration, they are whining that they are no longer in the headlines. It is tempting to toss the spoiled brats another “participation trophy” to shut them up but the better idea is to tell them “Suck it up buttercup, it is well past time for you to grow up.”
We live in a fallen, broken world. No matter the language, culture, background, or beliefs the friends and families of these victims need our compassion and prayer.
Lord, I pray now for the people of Beirut and Paris. I pray for everyone who has lost a friend or relative in these evil attacks. Even as You bring them comfort, I pray that they would come to know the Prince of Peace. I pray regarding the perpetrators of this destructive evil that they may learn of the King of Kings against whom they are truly fighting. If it be possible may they repent and come to know and have a proper relationship with the Prince of Peace and escape rom the kingdom of darkness. I pray that this violence would not be met with retaliatory violence but with swift and holy justice. Most of all, I pray that You, God of Father Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the One and Only True God would tear down the destructive mindset that is Islam and that the Middle East would be swept over by an awakening torrent of Your love and grace and truth as millions come to know You in truth as their Savior who has compassion, hears, and answers as no false god can.
