Walking with God

If we only have the will to walk, then God is pleased with our stumbles. – C. S. Lewis

Sodom and Gomorrah

When I read the details of Sodom and Gomorrah in Gods word I see many parallels to the big cities of today all over the world, and now even small towns in many areas. There is so much Corruption and Perversion in the world it looks a lot like Sodom and Gomorrah in spades. In fact what is it they call Las Vegas, sin city. But Las Vegas is not the only place where most all manner of perversions have been made legal, what is the saying ‘what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas’. And the growing appetite for perversion in the world is horrifyingly evident. And I see the sins of the world are huge.
As I read these passages I also see God’s great compassion and mercy for his creation. And his disdain for their corruptability. I see while he is not overly concerned with the carbon form of the human body, his real concern is for the spirit within. I also know from God’s word that he wants each of us to choose good over evil and work out our own salvation. As always I tell you don’t take my word for it read God’s word for yourself. Pray daily that God will give you the knowledge and understanding of his truth, God’s word is truth. Proverbs 4 all, God practically begs us and in warning to heed his word. It has been my observation that people are so caught up in self, they say “no one is going to tell me what to do or how to act.”  And that my fellow humans is exactly the thoughts of satan.  Satan wants us to believe that it’s ok to do whatever we want and there should be no consequence. But God shows us in Proverbs 4 that there is consequence to everything you do be it good or evil. For if you do right there is good consequence but if you do evil there is ill consequence. Unbridled actions is chaos.

God and Our Acts

If God ‘foresaw’ our acts, it would be very hard to understand how we could be free not to do them. But suppose God is outside and above the time-line …  you never suppose that your actions at this moment were any less free because God knows what you are doing.  Well, He knows your tomorrow’s actions in just the same way–because He is already in tomorrow and can simply watch you.  In a sense, He does not know your action till you have done it: but the moment at which you have done it is already ‘NOW’ for Him. – C. S. Lewis

Ordinary(?) People

There are no ordinary people.  You have never talked to a mere mortal.  Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations – these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat.  But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub and exploit – immortal horrors or everlasting splendors.  This does not mean that we are to be perpetually solemn.  We must play.  But our merriment must be of that kind (and it is, in fact, the merriest kind) which exists between people who have, from the outset, taken each other seriously – no flippancy, no superiority, no presumption. – C. S. Lewis

The Aroma of Coffee and of Praising God

No coffee can be good in the mouth that does not first send a sweet offering of odor to the nostrils. – Henry Ward Beecher

Such an interesting observation.  Now I know there are a few people who do not like coffee and therefore cannot quite relate but for the majority of us as we think on the wonderful fact related to us let us also ponder a spiritual parallel.  When we offer our sacrifice of praise it is an aroma that is more pleasing to God than the wonderful aroma of fresh coffee in the morning is to us.

Now that is biblical.  It is said in a slightly different fashion in Scripture but God is thrilled by our little demonstrations of genuine love for Him.  He actually looks forward to fellowship with us.

Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

He (the devil) always sends errors into the world n pairs — pairs of [apparent] opposites.  He relies on you extra dislike of one to draw you gradually into the opposite one.  But do not let us be fooled.  We have to keep our eyes on the goal and go straight through between both errors.  We have not other concern thatn that with either of them. – C. S. Lewis
