Since Satan could not kill the Church by roaring at her like a lion, he is currently trying to crush her by hugging her like a bear.

It may not be automatic necessity that makes all daisies alike; it may be that God makes every daisy separately, but has never gotten tired of making them. – G. K. Chesterton
There is no bigot like the atheist. Atheism is indeed the most daring of all [bigoted] dogmas … for it is the assertion of a universal negative.
There are arguments for atheism, and they do not depend, and never did depend, upon science. They are arguable enough, as far as they go, upon a general survey of life; only it happens to be a superficial survey of life. – G. K. Chesterton
When men cease to believe in God it is not that they begin to believe in nothing but that they are susceptible to believe in anything.

If you are not living out your faith enthusiastically maybe you don’t have any. If you are not worshiping God you are worshiping something else and nine times out of ten that turns out to be yourself.
Spurgeon said, “Like Jonah, you may lose your gourd, but you cannot lose your God.” The atheist has lost his “gourd” but God still is.

If the Holy Spirit was withdrawn from the church today, 90% of what we do would go on and no one would know the difference. That is a very state of affairs because if the early church had experience the withdrawing of the Holy Spirit everybody would have noticed. It does not have to be that way; it should not be that way; we can remedy that problem and we must.
It is a waste of time for a group of believers to spend long hours begging God for revival. If we ourselves do not intend to reform then we may as well not pray.
Unless praying people have enough insight and faith to amend their whole way of life to be in complete conformity to the New Testament pattern then there will be no genuine revival.
