The church at Ephesus needed to be reminded that His watchful eye was upon them, to stimulate them to recall their first love, and to do their first works; but the church of Smyrna, which was more pure, and had yet to pass through fiery trials, needed most of all to dwell upon the unchangeableness of His power and love.
The name comes from “Myrrh,” which is a bitter herb, a suitable name for a church facing persecution. Would the believers be fearful or faithful? There were genuine Jewish Christians among them, and there were Jewish pretenders. He knows who are the right-hearted, and He knows who are insincere.
Suffering can enrich us, even if we think we are poor; and what people think is wealth might turn out to be poverty (3:17). Although materially poor, this church was spiritually wealthy because it truly had the Christ. The Christ assures His people that He is intimately acquainted with every feature of their history. “I know …” The “I know” of love is the smile of God.
The 10 days? The grand principle is that there is a limit to the suffering of the Church and the saints. The Christ soothes and emboldens His saints by the promise of infinite compensation. He does not promise zero suffering in this life but He will not permit it to go beyond what we are capable of handling. And the Christ will not only deliver His saints from the sphere of suffering; He will introduce them into the sphere of eternal rest and joy.

It includes 42 business class seats, a fully-enclosed state room, an entertainment center, a private bed, a state-of-the-art communications system, and a crew of 16. Pelosi wanted “carte blanche for an aircraft any time,” including weekend trips home to San Francisco. Pretty nice but very expensive perk! Her Air Force C-32 costs approximately $15,000 an hour or approximately $300,000 per trip home.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s home district includes San Francisco. Star-Kist Tuna’s headquarters are in San Francisco, Pelosi’s home district. Star-Kist is owned by Del Monte Foods and is a major contributor to Pelosi. Star-Kist is the major employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the Samoan workforce.
Paul Pelosi, Nancy’s husband, owns $17 million dollars of Star-Kist stock. In January 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25, Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase so Del Monte would not have to pay the higher wage. This would make Del Monte products less expensive than their competition’s.
Last week when the huge bailout bill was passed, Pelosi added an earmark to the final bill adding $33 million dollars for an ‘economic development credit in American Samoa .’

We can no longer ignore the corruption in DC; if we don’t push back and do our part to clean up the mess it will soon be too late.
An FBI official says that they don’t want to influence an election as they did in 2016 with HRC conducting government business on an illegal unsecured server by refusing to do anything. Yet, they pursued the Russian Collusion Delusion and supported other attacks on Trump leading to impeachment attempts. They have pretty much ignored the Biden laptop scheme and reveal nothing of what they’re doing. They attempt to label parents concerned about what their children are being taught as terrorists. Over 1 1⁄2 years after Trump left office and mere months before the midterm elections, they raid Trumps home with questionable tactics. But they don’t want their tactics to influence elections. Yeah right; nope, I ain’t buying that bridge.
A good little bit before we moved in, we saw a tiny little mouse in the attic. We never saw any signs of it anywhere else in the house. Even after we moved in, we looked for signs, but nothing.
A couple of weeks after we moved in we started smelling the weirdest, most off-putting smell and it was always near plumbing (bathroom, water heater, etc). We tried everything. Cleaned thoroughly, and flushed the lines thinking it might have been stagnant water because the water was on way before we moved in so we thought that could be it. Even thought it might be the treatment plant. To no avail…..
Yesterday morning I walked through the kitchen, right past the dishwasher barefoot. I was headed to the laundry room to start laundry and was DISTRACTED. Derek walked RIGHT BEHIND ME, following my steps. He saw faint movement and looked down. And there it was, the small rat snake. He picked it up and took it outside.
He came back in and said, “there was your smell”. Rat snakes put off an awful odor as part of a defense mechanism. He had been in our house for at least 2-3 weeks. Since he’s been out….no smell.
He came in looking for a mouse. That mouse was valuable to him. He wanted it and he came looking for it.
I asked Derek how he thought it got in. And his response got me thinking this morning. He said, “he could have slipped in when any of us left the door cracked just a bit”. As we were moving, or kids going in and out, maybe walking out to the grill. It was small and sneaky and very well could have slipped right past us and us not even know he got in.
So this morning the Holy Spirit said to me, “do you see what can happen when you’re distracted? How quickly the enemy can sneak in your door, and sliver right past you? If he thinks there is something valuable there, he is going to try to sneak in and take it”.
And that’s how it happens. We miss one church service that turns into 6 months, we have one drink that leads back into an old lifestyle, we send one text that leads to an affair, we tell one fib that turns into a trail of lies and deceit.
The signs were there. I smelled the smell. (anyone that knows me understands this). I knew there was an enemy in the camp. But I was too “busy” to continue to look. So I just cleaned around it to try to make it “better”.
If satan can’t have you, he’ll distract you. Once you are safe in the Father’s arms and your name is written down, he can’t have you, so he tries to distract you. He tries to interrupt your holy living, he tries to break up your family, he tries to corrupt your mind, and he tries to fill you full of bitterness and unforgiveness.
LISTEN TO ME: He tries to stop you from getting any other names in that book!!!!!!! He tries to stop you from witnessing. He tells you you can’t, he ruins your witness through lies.
Don’t leave the door cracked. Lock it down. Be on guard. Put that armor on first thing. Stay prayed up.

We are all about to have a rude awakening. Some of us are old enough to remember the past. The younger generation has been so spoiled by the goodness of living in the USA, that they have no idea what is coming.
They are about to see why our parents/grandparents drove cars until the wheels fell off. And why it was typical to have one car per family. And why young newlyweds weren’t automatically entitled to a fully furnished house. Or lavish wedding (Do y’all remember when a wedding reception typically occurred in the fellowship hall of the church? And the only food was wedding cake, mints, mixed nuts and punch?) A honeymoon might include a night at a hotel, or if they were really lucky they might get a weekend in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
There weren’t restaurants on every corner, because people only RARELY ate out. They cooked every meal at home. Or packed a lunch for the road. And they never wasted leftovers. Picky eaters? You either ate what your Mama cooked or you did without. AND NO ONE CARED. We are about to rediscover potato patties, soup, hash, biscuit pudding, rice pudding and bread with gravy. NO FOOD WAS WASTED.
People had few outfits. You had church clothes and play clothes. And you took care of those clothes. Holes were mended and it didn’t matter if you liked the clothes or not. You wore what you had.
And people didn’t snack or eat all day long either. People were rarely overweight. Because they didn’t have an unlimited supply of food at their fingertips.
People weren’t being constantly entertained. Kids played outside and made up games with their imaginations. No fancy vacations. There was no money for all these extras that we consider “Rights”.
Maybe people will finally wake up and realize that it is a PRIVILEGE to be an American. And feel gratitude and quit being such entitled whiney babies.
People shed blood and died to give us this life.
AND WE ARE STARTING TO PROVE THAT WE DON’T DESERVE IT.

Jordan Peterson has become a voice of reason in an age of otherwise insanity. His books have been bestsellers. His podcasts, interviews, and live debates have kept listeners glued to seats, absorbing every word. Peterson himself often tearfully recounts instances in which people have approached him just to say how he’s changed their lives. But now, a group of people he has dedicated years of his life to will no longer have the kind of access to his calm, collected, measured wisdom, for he’s decided to resign from his position at the University of Toronto.null
In a column for the National Post, Peterson outlines exactly why he has chosen to leave the academy: the diversity, inclusion, and equity (DIE) disease that has infected the entire institution. He writes that because of the DIE insanity that grips the academy, his “heterosexual white male graduate students […] face a negligible chance of being offered university research positions.” And, if his students manage to conquer that hill, because of his philosophical positions, they might still be rejected, as his presence in their education and development as scholars has somehow tainted them. “These facts rendered my job morally untenable.”null
The DIE, he explains has destroyed several areas of the academy. The DIE push to meet racial, ethnic, and gender quotas ensures less than qualified candidates are accepted. “This means we’re out to produce a generation of researchers utterly unqualified for the job,” and the “death of objective testing” all but makes this much certain.
For faculty, he describes them as “craven,” lying and paying homage to the DIE overlords in statements for the purpose of receiving research funding, “further corrupting what is already a stunningly corrupt enterprise.” What’s more, Peterson writes, these spineless academics teach their students to do the same.
And if the behavior of the individual professors was not bad enough, Peterson explains that “the accrediting boards for graduate clinical psychology training programs in Canada are now planning to refuse to accredit university clinical programs unless they have ‘social justice’ orientation.”
The universities will be required to prime students to become leftist activists or be denied accreditation.
“Similar moves are afoot in other professional disciplines, such as medicine and law. And if you don’t think that psychologists, lawyers and other professionals are anything but terrified of their now woke governing professional colleges, much to everyone’s extreme detriment, you simply don’t understand how far this has all gone.”
All of this is to say that the academy is an institution rotten to its core, gripped by the venomous tentacles of the DIE monster.
“We are now at the point where race, ethnicity, “gender,” or sexual preference is first, accepted as the fundamental characteristic defining each person (just as the radical leftists were hoping) and second, is now treated as the most important qualification for study, research and employment. Need I point out that this is insane.”
Before closing his column, Peterson lashes out in righteous anger at those making this takeover possible.
“[T]his is on you Professor. Cowever cravenly in pretence and silence. Teaching your students to dissimulate and lie. To get along. […] CEOs: signalling a virtue you don’t possess and shouldn’t want to please a minority who literally live their lives by displeasure. […] Musicians, artists, writers: stop bending your sacred and meritorious art to the demands of the propagandists…”
I think it’s safe to say that the University of Toronto has lost an invaluable member of the faculty, and the professoriate at large has lost one of the last warriors willing to fight for what they are too cowardly to fight for themselves.
Perhaps if more professors had Peterson’s stones, the universities wouldn’t have anyone left to push their nonsense, and, just maybe, they might start changing, but this is far too much to ask, I suppose.
For now, the universities continue to prove to be garbage heaps of terrible ideas, substandard scholarship, and a limiting worldview detrimental to all those who choose to walk through the doors, and Jordan B. Peterson will no longer be participating in it.
