Ignorance is a state which refers to lack of knowledge. Ignorance spells unawareness. When a person is ignorant, he or she is simply uninformed about something or the other. Ignorance and foolishness are two completely terms though both of them can lead to unfortunate repercussions. In spite of the saying to the contrary ignorance is not bliss. ignorance often proves to be quite painful.
Awareness regarding things in your vicinity always helps. In the words of Winston Churchill, “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.”
The ignorance emanating from the left must be stopped or we all may be caused to suffer due to their sheer stupidity and pursuit of policies already proven to be hazardous to the well-being of any people.
Freedom can exist only in the society of knowledge. Without learning, men are incapable of knowing their rights, and where learning is confined to a few people, liberty can be neither equal nor universal. – Benjamin Rush 1786
Ignorance is not simply a blank, empty space on a person’s mental map, but it has contours and sharp edges. Ignorance never accelerates but only hinders positive progress on the personal as well as the professional front.

Yet, I will say that, in America, the problem is not ignorance – the lack of knowledge – but (mis)education – the knowing of falsehoods.

I would love to argue the point with you but I do not disagree with your assessment.
